Maumee Valley’s DEIB efforts achieved greater focus and prominence in 2022 与 the creation of our Office of 多样性、公平、包容和归属感 and the 招聘 of its first-ever director: Reanne Young.

关于Reanne Young

Reanne (pronounced RAY-anne) Young is a veteran DEIB executive 与 decades of public- and private-sector experience. She joined MV after 14 years 与 The Roeper School-Birmingham Campus in Michigan, 底特律郊区的一所私立独立学校. 在鲁普, she served as Middle/上学校 psychological consultant and coordinator for the Department of Student Support Services. For more than 20 years, she has operated Young Counseling & 她创立了私人咨询公司.

She has provided consultation services to many organizations across the country, from Fortune 500 companies to nonprofit organizations across. She also serves as a senior consulting associate to the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and 包容.

从2023-2024学年开始, Maumee Valley is expanding access to SEED (Seeking Educational 股本 and Diversity) training for all 教师 和工作人员. The school funded the training of three additional personnel as facilitators, bringing to three the number of trained facilitators on 工作人员. The school’s 2021-206 战略计划 called for solidifying our commitment to diversity, 股本, and inclusion as community standards through three main actions:

  • Examine our systems, processes, and curriculum to ensure 股本 and inclusion.
  • Hire a Diversity, 股本, and 包容 Coordinator to shepherd our current work and future growth.
  • Refine 招聘 practices so that our employee community reflects the diversity of our students and 家庭.

Another part of the school’s 2021-206 战略计划 called for expanding opportunities for community eng年龄ment. The school is pursuing these goals by nurturing peer-family relationships and connections to the school; enhancing parent education programs; and matching students, 父母, 教师, 和校友通过mg冰球突破试玩进行更深层次的培养, 一生的关系.

董事会关注

提高DEIB问题的可见度, the Maumee Valley Board of Trustees in 2022 created the DEIB Committee. It is one of four standing committees of the Board.

社区读

To strengthen community cohesion, Maumee Valley has adopted several DEIB books as community reads. This year’s title is “The Identity-Conscious Educator: Building Habits and Skills for a More Inclusive School” by Liza A. Talusan, who is coming to campus in early 2024 to lead workshops 与 教师, 工作人员, 和学生见面,和MV家庭见面.

The Diversity Advocacy Team started in 2018 to monitor and create DEIB activities, including an emphasis on community events and activities, 招聘和留住员工的努力, 以及专业发展和课程. Its members come from 教师 和工作人员 across all three divisions.

Maumee Valley in 2022-2023 sent several 教师 和工作人员 to the NAIS People of Color Conference and six students to the Student Diversity 领导 Conference. DEIB issues also have been the focus of several 教师 和工作人员 professional development days.

The DEIB office is leading the charge to create affinity groups across campus.
